The Storefront Studio

St. Louis, Missouri 63139

The Storefront Studio opened in September, 1998. The Studio is Carol Lark’s personal art studio and is equipped with a small intaglio press, papermaking equipment, and sculpture armatures and stands.  While the studio is intended primarily for her own use, the amount of open space make it inevitable that Lark will expand some Art Therapy Center and Visual Dialogues Project activities into it.

Lark’s work has been exhibited in juried shows at Art St. Louis, the St. Louis Artist’s Guild, and Craft Alliance. Juried media include intaglio, experimental drawing, and papermaking. Her work also appeared in "Masked Encounters" (5 masks), "MIRA" (an etching and a figurative cast sculpture), and "Mother Tongue: A Community Art Dialogue" (1 x 4’ modular panels: 4 mixed media assemblage and 1 pastel drawing). Lark is currently experimenting with collage and assemblage, and figurative clay sculpture.

The Mother Tongue: A Community Arts Dialogue

Storefront Studio housed the panel construction workshops and one of the public seminars that supported the Mother Tongue project in St. Louis. It was also the site of the re-located installation following its opening at Hunt Gallery, Webster University. Storefront Studio continues to house the St. Louis Mother Tongue panels and to provide space for the newly formed Core Dialogue Group monthly meetings.
